Toby was born with a severe case of needing to perform, having a writer/director father in Los Angeles and a mother who worked regularly in theatre.
He studied drama at Colchester Institute whilst performing at the Mercury Theatre and with the Wivenhoe Players in the village where he made efforts to grow up.
But it wasn’t until 2019, with a strong career in writing & directing, when Toby was asked to work in front of camera as a supporting artist for an Ernst & Young commercial, that Toby finally caught the acting bug.
After that he got a speaking role in four Curries PC World ads shot back-to-back…and he was hooked. Since then he’s worked in feature films, television, theatre, shorts, commercials, and a web series.
Toby also works regularly in improv with the police for their Interrogation Training Program playing the part of suspect, victim and witness. Similarly, he’s worked in improv for the Essex Fire Service as well as playing various characters at Wyvernwood in Essex.
In 2023 Toby was nominated as Best Supporting Actor by the North East Essex Theatre Guild for his role of DeLacy in Frankenstein at The Headgate Theatre, in Colchester.
